2001

Computer Reuse Programme

The Computer Reuse Programme was introduced. Recycled computers, after a series of checking, upgrade and refurbishment, are sold at a low price or donated to the people in need.


Volunteer Training

The workshop provides basic computer repair training to teenage volunteers.

2003

Computer Recycling Program

Supported by the Environmental Protection Department, the Computer Reuse Programme was introduced to help the people in need to break the digital divide and lower the amount of e-waste.

2005

Computer Recycling Scheme

Supported by the Educational Bureau, the Computer Recycling Scheme provided refurbished computers to students.

2006

CRT Recycling and Reuse Programme

Supported by the Environmental Protection Department, the CRT Recycling and Reuse Programme recycled CRT television sets and monitors. After processing, vitrified sand are extracted to support the production of eco-friendly bricks in Hong Kong.

2007

Hong Kong used computers and electronic appliances recycling day

The workshop co-hosted the All-Hong Kong used computers and electronic appliances recycling day with the EPD in 2007. It aimed at enhancing public awareness at the recycling and reuse of used computers and electronic appliances.

2008

International Donation Programme

The workshop donated reused computers to Cameroon, Africa to support the needy there and help to break the digital divide there.


Data degaussing Programme

To make sure that donors’ personal data are properly erased, the workshop introduced the Data degaussing Programme in 2008.


Computer Accessories Recycling and Reuse Campaign

This programme promotes the recycling and reuse of computer accessories and lower the amount of e-waste.

2011

Reused Computers for School Children

The workshop jointly hosted a computer donation programme with Cathay Pacific, which donated a few hundred reused computers to school children in need.

2012

Mobile Computer Repair Programme

The Standard Chartered Hong Kong 150th Anniversary Community Foundation sponsored the Mobile Computer Repair Programme for the needy by providing on-site computer repair and technical support service.

2013

Roadshow’s Computer Recycling Programme

Recycled computers are donated to the grass-roots elders, young school children, and subdivided families to promote the public's awareness of environmental protection and the spirit of social mutual help and care.


Caritas + Bank of China Hong Kong Computer Donation Program

In cooperation with the Bank of China, the workshop donated 2,000 computers to the grassroots and arrange computer workshops for families of school children, the elderly and ethnic minorities to enhance computer knowledge.

Set up mobile phone team

The mobile phone team was set up to recycle smartphones and tablets and sell them to people in need at low prices after restoration.

2017

2018

CCW became official partners with Synnex HK, Hornington and Felton.


CTRL+Z was opened.


Caritas Computer Workshop was moved to a factory building in To Kwa Wan.

2019

Awarded Friends of EcoPark - Certificate of Appreciation


Awarded "OSH Star Recycling Enterprise" by the Occupational Safety and Health Bureau


The Caritas Computer Workshop logo was renewed.


Caritas Computer Workshop became the first NGO to obtain the "Registered Electrical Contractor" qualification from the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department.

2020

Com4kids Computer Donation Program

In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Rotary Club, Standard Chartered Bank and the Keswick Fund co-launched three phases of Com4kids Computer Donation Program. More than 600 laptops and desktops computer were donated to students in need for free.


Computer Donation Program

During the covid-19, the workshop cooperates with Hong Kong Broadband to donate laptops and tablets to students in need..

2021

Obtained the Environmental Protection Department "Waste Disposal Licence (WDL)" qualification

2021

Benefiting from the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust. The Computer Workshop launched the Caritas Jockey Club "One More Lap" Computer Donation Programme.
